Biography
I grew up in Spring Arbor, MI, and attended Western Michigan University, where I earned my bachelor's degree in biology and secondary education. I then moved to Hawaii to teach for seven years. I learned to surf and spent many hours enjoying the islands' beauty. I met my husband there, even though he is originally from Ohio, and our daughter was born in Hawaii. Then it was time to move back to Michigan to be close to family, so she could grow up knowing her many cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended family. Our son was born in Grand Rapids, and spending time with our family is important to all of us. Both of my children graduated from Forest Hills Central High, where I have taught high school sciences, including AP Biology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, and AP Environmental Science for twenty years. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, the beach, reading, and exploring the beauty of the world.
