Women's History Month Events

ذكذكتسئµ College will host a plethora of events in March in celebration of Women's History Month. ذكذكتسئµ's events are primarily sponsored by the school's program with assistance in many cases from other campus academic departments. Below is the line-up. All events are open to the public and free.

March 1 == "Gender Around the World" from 3:30-5 pm in Hiemenga Hall 323. Sponsored by Gender Studies, ذكذكتسئµ Students for Christian Feminism and ذكذكتسئµ International Students.

March 4 == "Why Women's History Matters" by ذكذكتسئµ professor Margaret Bendroth from 3:30 to 5 pm in the Meeter Center Lecture Hall. Sponsored by Gender Studies and the ذكذكتسئµ History Department.

March 7 == "Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin: An Astronomical Life Extraordinaire" by ذكذكتسئµ professor Larry Molnar from 3:30 to 5 pm in the Meeter Center Lecture Hall. Sponsored by Gender Studies and the ذكذكتسئµ Physics Department.

March 20 == "Women Under the Gun: Coping and Achieving in Occupied Palestine" by ذكذكتسئµ professor Bert de Vries from 3:30 to 5 pm in the Meeter Center Lecture Hall. Sponsored by Gender Studies and the ذكذكتسئµ History Department.

March 21 == "Making the Links, Moving Mountains" by Molara Ogundipe, professor of English, Africana, Cultural and Gender Studies at the University of Arkansas, from 3:30 to 5 pm in the Meeter Center Lecture Hall. Sponsored by Gender Studies.

March 22 == "Trauma Theory and the Theology of the Cross" by Serene Jones, associate professor of theology at Yale Divinity School, from 3:30 to 5 pm in Spoelhof Center 301. Sponsored by Gender Studies, the ذكذكتسئµ Philosophy Department and the ذكذكتسئµ Religion and Theology Department.

March 27 == "Lillian Gilbreth: First Lady of Industrial Engineering" by ذكذكتسئµ professor Gayle Ermer from 3:30 to 5 pm in Science Building 110. Sponsored by Gender Studies and the ذكذكتسئµ Engineering Department.

March 28 == "100 Years of Women at ذكذكتسئµ College" by ذكذكتسئµ archivist Richard Harms from 3:30 to 5 pm in the Meeter Center Lecture Hall. Sponsored by Gender Studies and the ذكذكتسئµ Archives.

April 3 == "Gender and Family in the Qur'an" by Aziza al-Hibri, professor of law at University of Richmond Law School from 7:30 to 9 pm in ذكذكتسئµ Seminary auditorium for the 2002 Jellema Lectures. Sponsored by the ذكذكتسئµ Philosophy Department, the ذكذكتسئµ Sociology Department, the ذكذكتسئµ Religion and Theology Department, the ذكذكتسئµ Political Science Department and the Gender Studies program.

April 4 == "Religion and the State in Islam" by Aziza al-Hibri, professor of law at University of Richmond Law School from 3:30 to 5 pm in ذكذكتسئµ Seminary auditorium for the 2002 Jellema Lectures. Sponsored by the ذكذكتسئµ Philosophy Department, the ذكذكتسئµ Sociology Department, the ذكذكتسئµ Religion and Theology Department, the ذكذكتسئµ Political Science Department and the Gender Studies program.
